The W3C Web of Things Working Group has recently published the Web of Things (WoT) Thing Description document as W3C Recommendation.

Dr. Victor Charpenay, formerly at Siemens and now a post-doc at the Chair of Technical Information Systems, is a co-editor of the document. He says: “The W3C Web of Things suite of recommendations is important because engineers can now design automation systems as easily as they can design web applications”.

Dr. Tobias Käfer from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, who was not involved with the standardisation effort at W3C, says that the new recommendation is “another big step forward for bringing agents to the web, to automate tasks for their users in the physical and virtual world”.
